چکیده
Neurology India | May-Jun 2009 | Vol 57 | Issue 3 A 37-year-old gentleman presented with weakness, burning sensation, pain and a progressively increasing swelling in the volar aspect of the right palm and wrist for three years. On examination there was wasting of the thenar eminence with muscle power of MRC Grade II and decreased sensation in the median nerve distribution of the right hand. Nerve conduction study showed no response to stimulation of the right median motor and sensory components. Palmar conduction showed no response to stimulation in right median nerve. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the wrist and hand showed enlargement of the median nerve with hypointense linear serpentine fibers interspersed between hyperintense signal both in T1W, proton density and T2W [not shown in figure] images suggestive of fatty infiltration, giving the appearance of “coaxialcablefibers” in the axial plane [Figure 1] and a “spaghetti pattern” in the coronal plane [Figure 2]. The mass caused displacement of the flexor tendons and bulging of the flexor retinaculum. Nerve thickening was extending proximally within the forearm and distally involving the digital branches [Figure 3]. Fibrolipomatous hamartoma of the median nerve: A cause of acute bilateral carpal tunnel syndrome in a three-year-old child: A case report and comprehensive literature review.
A three-year-old boy was investigated for inexplicable incessant crying. On examination, his left wrist was mildly swollen (three to four months) and sensitive. Exploration and carpal tunnel decompression of the left wrist with incisional biopsy was performed for the presence of a fusiform swelling intimately associated with the median nerve. Histopathology revealed the presence of enlarged ner...
متن کاملCarpal Tunnel Syndrome in Association with Klippel-Trénaunay Syndrome: A Case Report
Klippel-Trénaunay syndrome is a rare congenital condition that rarely affects peripheral nerves. Median nerve involvement at carpal tunnel level has only been reported in a few occasions in the medial literature. A 61 years old Caucasian female patient with Klippel-Trénaunay syndrome presented with a 10 months history of paraesthesiae and numbness affecting the median nerve distribution area...
متن کاملAberrant Radial Artery Causing Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Anatomical vascular variations are rare causes of carpal tunnel syndrome. An aberrant medial artery is the most common vascular variation, while an aberrant radial artery causing carpal tunnel syndrome is even more rare, with an incidence ranging less than 3%. This article reports a patient with compression of the median nerve at the carpal tunnel by an aberrant superficial branch of the radi...

ABSTRACT Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is the most common entrapment syndrome. Median-ulnar motor comparative technique with Median motor technique in carpal tunnel syndrome were studied. In 50 patients with 72 hands with clinically defined carpal tunnel syndrome and electrophysilogic evidence of Median neuropathy at wrist based upon a prolonged sensory nerve distal latency with 30 asymptomatic volu...
